After careful consideration, Tasman Medical Equipment has decided to withdraw from the B Corp certification process.
This decision has not been made lightly. We continue to support the principles and values that B Corp promotes, many of which have been embedded in the way our business has operated for decades. Our commitment to ethical business practices, our staff, our customers, our suppliers, and our community remains unchanged.

However, we have found that the practical value of certification has not justified the significant investment of time and resources required to maintain it. There has been little or no demand for B Corp certification from either our customers or our supplier base, and our engagement with B Lab has been limited almost entirely to generic, automated communications, with little meaningful or personal support.

We were also disappointed that, despite being one of only three B Corp Certified businesses in our region and one of only a handful within New Zealand’s medical equipment sector, we have never been contacted by a New Zealand-based representative. Given B Corp’s emphasis on community and local business engagement, this lack of connection was unexpected.
While we are stepping away from certification, we are not stepping away from the values that led us to pursue it. Tasman Medical Equipment will continue to operate responsibly, support our people and community, and manufacture quality products with integrity. Those commitments are part of who we are—they do not depend on certification.
